This Weekend: What to Know if You're Taking Metro

Expect delays on the Red Line.

Planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend? Here’s what you need to know, according to WMATA:

  • Trains will be single-tracking between Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square to allow for construction at Farragut North.
  • From 9:30a.m. to 9p.m. Saturday and Sunday, trains will run about every 10 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont. Every other train leaving from Shady Grove will terminate at Dupont Circle, and every other train leaving from Glenmont will terminate at Union Station.
  • Outside of those hours, Red Line trains will run about every 20 minutes.
  • The last train from Glenmont will leave 11 minutes earlier than usual – at 2:26 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and at 11:26p.m. on Sunday.
  • All Red Line riders should tack on an additional 30 minutes of travel time to their weekend trips.
  • Track work is also planned this weekend for the Blue, Orange and Green lines. Check Metro’s press release for more details.
