This Weekend: What to Know if You're Taking Metro

Expect delays on the Red Line.

Planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend? Here’s what to expect, according to WMATA:

  • Trains will be single-tracking between Shady Grove and Twinbrook as Metro workers conduct rail and infrastructure renewal work from 9 p.m. Friday through closing Sunday.
  • On the other side of the Red Line, trains will be single-tracking between Takoma ad Forest Glen.
  • Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, trains will run about every 12 minutes between Grosvenor and Fort Totten. At all other times and outside of those stations, trains will run about every 24 minutes.
  • Red Line riders should tack on about 20 minutes of travel time to their trip this weekend.
  • Additional track work is planned this weekend on the Blue, Yellow and Orange lines. Check Metro’s press release for more information.
