This Weekend: What to Know if You're Taking Metro

Expect more delays on the Red Line.

If you’re planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend, expect more delays and more maintenance work. Here’s a few important things to know, according to WMATA:

  • Red Line trains will be single-tracking between Friendship Heights and Van Ness-UDC for track work. Work will begin around 10p.m. Friday and wrap up at closing Sunday.
  • On the other side of the Red Line, trains will be single-tracking between Takoma and Forest Glen.
  • Trains will be running about every 30 minutes in the Montgomery County portion of the Red Line. Trains will be running about every 10 minutes between Van Ness and Fort Totten between the hours of 9a.m. and 9p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
  • All Red Line riders should tack on about 30 minutes to their anticipated travel time.

Remember, next weekend, August 6-7, buses will be replacing trains between Bethesda and Rockville as part of a new approach Metro is taking to accelerate maintenance work. Plan ahead using Metro’s major weekend track work schedule.
