Update, 10 a.m.: Metro reports that a train is not moving in the tunnel near Tenleytown because of power issues. Trains continue to single-track around it from Friendship Heights to Van Ness.

Original post, 9:47 a.m.: Power issues on Metrorail are causing a commuting mess for Red Line riders this morning.

Trains are running at restricted speeds after power issues were reported near Brentwood and Friendship Heights, according to Metro spokeswoman Caroline Lukas.

Delays are reported on the entire stretch of the Red Line, however. Riders should expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

“The delays are going end to end at this point,” Lukas said. “It’s causing a backlog.”

Metro tweeted that trains are single-tracking between Friendship Heights and Van Ness.

WMATA is asking riders to consider using the Green Line or Metrobus service as an alternate.
