Weekend Service Added for Ride On 36 Bus To Congressional

Ridership demand from U.S. Open spectators prompts extended service.

Montgomery County transit officials are extending operations on the Ride On 36 bus to meet ridership demand from U.S. Open spectators.

The 36 bus operates between the Bethesda Metro station and Normally, the bus only operates on weekdays, but to accommodate spectators,  the bus will now run Saturday and Sunday every half hour from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"Based on indications that there will be ample demand for the service through the weekend and the fact that shuttle buses from the Grosvenor Metro Station are sold out for the remainder of the tournament, Ride On officials made the decision to extend the service," a statement read.

All passes for the Metro shuttles running from Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Friday morning.

County officials are reminding spectators to get off the bus at the Connolly School stop and use the pedestrian bridge over Bradley Boulevard to enter at the fifth hole gate. Walk-up spectators are not being allowed through Congressional's main gate. Commuters using other Ride On routes should not use the River Road stop in front of Congressional.

The T2 Metrobus also runs to the club from the Rockville and Friendship Heights metro stops, and operates on the weekends.
