What You Need to Know About Metro This Weekend

Trains will once again be single-tracking between Friendship Heights and Medical Center.

Planning on using the Red Line this weekend? Here’s a few things you need to know:

▪ Starting 10 p.m. Friday until closing Sunday, Red Line trains will be sharing one track between Friendship Heights and Medical Center. According to WMATA, crews will be replacing fasteners that support the track. Be prepared to tack on an extra 20 minutes of travel time.

▪ Expect a similar situation between Takoma and Forest Glen Metrorail stations. Trains are sharing one track while crews make upgrades to the train control rooms.

▪ Saturday and Sunday trains will depart about every 24 minutes from the Shady Grove and Glenmont stations. Between Friendship Heights and Takoma Metrorail stations they will operate about every 12 minutes.
