"We Were So Darling"

With Memorial Day on the horizon perhaps you too  think about and remember family members who have served in the US Military.

My Aunt, Catherine Diggle Brown, joined the WACS in 1943. She was proud to serve and kept her uniform as one of her prized possessions. "It was a special time," she would say when talking about the days of WWII.

This is a story she told me about the day she "joined up" and about a woman she "went off to war with." I am glad I was smart enough one afternoon to write it down as she told me the story over the phone.
