Chaturanga: Not Your Old School Push-Up

Chaturanga: Not Your Old School Push-Up!

This workshop is a rotator cuff saving, back supporting, and upper body strengthening guide to chaturanga dandasana, also know as low plank or the yoga push-up. When performed correctly, this pose is the key to smooth and controlled transitions in traditional sun salutations and other vinyasa sequences: from down dog to plank to chaturanga to cobra and back up to down dog again.

In this workshop, you will learn proper alignment in your arms and shoulders, as well as how to use core strength and leg engagement to move with confidence in and out of chaturanga and to explore other arm balances. This is a great opportunity to identify and overcome pesky obstacles and break unhelpful habits that hinder the healthy flow of your practice. This workshop is supportive of beginners and also challenging for advanced practitioners.
