Community Corner

Healthy Eating Event

Concerned about the state of our food culture? Interested in positively impacting food choices in our community? Want to learn easy, no fuss tips for  increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables in your child's diet?

If so, join Grow Your Family Strong to kick off the conversation about how healthy eating impacts our schools, our children and our nation. The free event will be held on November 7th, from 7-9 at the Lycée Rochambeau School in Bethesda.

Our panel of
experts including Kari Leland, R.D., Clinical Nutrition Manager at Georgetown
University hospital and Kavita Patel, M.D., internist at Johns Hopkins Medicine
and previous White House adviser on health policy.  Completing
the panel, Lycée
Rochambeau's own Madame Levy. With our children spending over 180 days
out of the year at school, the importance of a shared vision on healthy
eating cannot be overstated.

Moderator Monique Nadeau, founder of Grow Your Family Strong,
will discuss the results from her nearly completed four-week healthy-eating
pilot program in which more than 60 area families addressed the barriers
involved with healthy eating. Ms. Nadeau looks forward to sharing solutions to some of these barriers.

Her hope—and the reason she formed Grow Your Family
Strong—is to start the very important conversation about the food we feed our
children, and how it impacts our school and beyond.
