Little Falls Village Expands its "Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors" Program

Last July, Little Falls Village began helping
seniors in nine Bethesda neighborhoods, but that number of neighborhoods is now
doubling as this non-profit organization begins helping seniors in all the
neighborhoods that comprise Bethesda zip code 20816.

Little Falls Village is one
of the newest “aging-in-place” Villages in this area.  Its mission is to connect seniors with neighborhood
volunteers who can provide a variety of non-medical services that help seniors
to remain independent in their own homes longer.   Services range from transportation around
town to help around the house.

On March 3, Little Falls
Village will host an informational meeting for residents interested in becoming
Village members, volunteers or both.  The
meeting will be held at Westland Middle School, 5511 Massachusetts Avenue beginning
at 7:00pm.

Village Executive Director,
Todd Smith, says “studies show that most seniors want to stay home as they age,
so it’s not surprising that there is growing interest in the Village movement
in our area, particularly among seniors living in the Wood Acres and
Springfield neighborhoods.”  Smith added,
“we’d like to invite anyone in the 20816 zip code interested in learning more
about the benefits of being a Village member or volunteer to come to our March
3rd meeting.”

To RSVP for the meeting or to
ask questions, you can contact the Little Falls Village Office at 301-320-3267
