Tiki Thirstday XVII • July 10

A weekly social night out for those who enjoy "Tiki", a mid-century
cultural fascination with all things Polynesian and from the exotic
South Pacific – which swept the nation in the postwar years of the '40s,
'50s, and '60s. These were the golden years for places like Trader
Vic's, Don the Beachcomber, and grand Polynesian Supper Clubs like the
Mai-Kai and the Kahiki. Drinks like the Mai Tai and Zombie were born and
served up in exotic themed restaurants across the country. Like all
fads, it eventually faded, but has been reclaimed by new and younger
generations who have nostalgically embraced the vintage cocktails,
colorful Hawaiian shirts, and cool jazz of the Exotica era. Tiki
Thirstday currently meets every Thursday night at House of Foong Lin at
4613 Willow Lane on the Bethesda/Chevy Chase line and is welcoming to
all who have a love of "Great Drinks, Great Food, and Great Company."

If you miss the days of the DC's famed Trader Vic's, you'll want to drop by and re-live the golden days of Tiki. Tiki Thirstday features authentic classic cocktails like the Mai Tai, Zombie, Volcano Bowl, Doctor Funk of Tahiti and Fog Cutter and the cool jazz of Exotica playing in the lounge. If you are a fan, grab your Hawaiian shirt and come on down. Never heard of Tiki? Visit us and enjoy what you have been missing. (Hawaiian shirt not required, but a lot more fun and comfortable to Tiki in ;)

Weely Door Prize drawing open for first timers and all those wearing some kind of Tiki/island wear.

We gather every Thursday night from about 6 pm to closing. Kitchen closes at 10 pm, the bar remains open as business warrants, or until the county required closing time.
