Personal Visions Gallery Presents “To Life!”

BETHESDA, MD –  Studio In-Sight, a vocational arts program in Montgomery County, MD is proud to bring “To Life!” to Personal Visions Gallery.  “To Life!” is an artistic celebration about all living things, nature and the living world.  

“I consider myself an observationalist.  I have a naturalist tendency and have a deep connection with the visual nature of how things grow and also with how they decay." Says “To Life!”’s Artist In Residence, Nicole Black,  about her participation in this project.

Personal Visions Gallery is a joint venture between Cornerstone Montgomery and The Dennis and Phillip Ratner Museum.  The main gallery space is dedicated to the display of works from artists living with disabilities and primarily from Studio In-Sight, clients of Cornerstone Montgomery.  

The show will run from January 2 – February 27, 2014 at Personal Visions Gallery within the Dennis and Phillip Ratner Museum located at 10001 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda.  “To Life!” features original pieces created exclusively by the artists of Cornerstone Montgomery’s Studio In-Sight program.  The gallery will host an artist reception on January 5, 2014 from 1:30 – 3:30pm.  The reception is free and artists will be onsite to meet and greet. The “To Life!” Artist-in-Residence, Nicole Black, will be on site from 12:30 -3:30pm, February 2, 2014 working on new creations and demonstrating her painting techniques.

Studio In-Sight (SIS) – Since 2006 Studio In-Sight has aimed to bring space and inspiration to individuals recovering their lives after the onset of mental illness. Artists of SIS are clients at Cornerstone Montgomery, a psychiatric rehabilitation facility in Montgomery County Maryland that serves those living with a chronic and persistent mental illness.  SIS is a part of the Life Skills Program whose mission is to guide, train, and empower clients in a social and supportive atmosphere.  The studio is dedicated to working artists.

Cornerstone Montgomery is a community-based 501(c)3 psychiatric rehabilitation housing and services program.  Cornerstone Montgomery empowers more than 2,200 of people throughout Montgomery County, Maryland who are living with mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders to live, work, and integrate successfully within the community.
