Unitarian Universalist Association President Rev. Peter Morales to Preach

The theme of his sermon will be “Love
Reaches Out.” Observing that Unitarian Universalists (UUs) have a proud
history of public witness and a deep connection to supporting social justice,
Rev. Morales will explore the question of whether UUs can learn to be as
passionate and effective at reaching out as we are about standing for justice. Morales wants to shake
UU churches into outreach action.

Rev. Morales began his second four-year term as
president of the UUA, the coordinating body for more
than 1,000 member congregations, in June 2013.
Morales, the first Latino president of the UUA, was elected on a platform of
growth and multiculturalism. As chief spokesperson for the Association, Morales
has engaged in powerful public witness demonstrations to support immigration
reform and marriage equality, strengthened UU ties to international religious
groups and organizations, and built strong interfaith connections around
justice work.
