100 Montaditos Likely to Open Next Week

The wait is nearly over for new Bethesda restaurant 100 Montaditos.

The wait for Spanish sandwich shop 100 Montaditos is nearly over.

The Elm Street restaurant's grand opening may take place as soon as late next week—possibly Thursday or Friday, manager Steve Walker told Patch.

Last Thursday morning, Walker was waiting for a shipment of the restaurant's furniture to arrive from Spain. Last month, the restaurant—at 4922 Elm St., near Bethesda Row—received its liquor license.

The eatery—which is part of an international chain—serves Spanish-style sandwiches called montaditos, which "come in all flavors—Spanish ham, chicken, cheese, vegetarian, and can be served hot or cold," according to 100 Montaditos' website. It also serves salads, ice cream and Spanish wine and beer, according to its menu.

"The atmosphere and food at 100 Montaditos restaurants are inspired by early 19th-century Spanish taverns, known for being comfortable and offering a quick and personalized service," the website added.
