100 Montaditos' Liquor License Hearing Set for September

The Bethesda eatery—originally scheduled to open last spring—has a liquor license hearing on Sept. 19.

The long-awaited opening of 100 Montaditos' Bethesda location may be coming soon...for real.

When Patch passed by the eatery's storefront at 4922 Elm St., Bethesda, crews were busy preparing the interior, and a bright orange sign posted in the window indicated that a hearing for its liquor license would take place on Sept. 19.

The eatery originally was scheduled to open in May, but that was pushed back to August, Bethesda Now reported.

When it opens, 100 Montaditos—which is an international chain—will serve Spanish-style sandwiches called montaditos, which "come in all flavors—Spanish ham, chicken, cheese or vegetarian, and can be served hot or cold," according to 100 Montaditos' website. It also will serve salads, ice cream and Spanish wine and beer, according to its menu.

"The atmosphere and food at 100 Montaditos restaurants are inspired by early 19th-century Spanish taverns, known for being comfortable and offering a quick and personalized service," the website added.
