Grand Opening of Chinese Culture and Community Service Center

Grand Opening Celebration

    The Chinese Culture and Community Service Center, Inc.(CCACC) invites government officials , Maryland Senators and Congressmen and the general public to join in its grand opening celebration and open house at 9366 Gaither Road, Gaithersburg MD 20877, on Saturday, August 27, 2011.  The program will start at 11 a.m. to include lion dance, flag raising ceremony, ribbon-cutting, exhibitions, slide shows, and tours of the new headquarters facilities.  Light refreshment will be provided.

    CCACC was established in 1982 as an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Its vision is to be a vibrant organization serving, strengthening, and celebrating Chinese American community.  CCACC is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization.  Currently, it has over 2,000 members and more than hundreds of volunteers and some paid staff.  It has served more than 80,000 instances each year to people of all ages from toddlers to seniors.

    For almost 30 years, CCACC has become a focal point of the Chinese American community as well as the bridge to government services, cultural exchanges, and assimilation.  Through various services and sponsored events, the state and local governments have recognized CCACC’s achievements and contributions to the community.

    The variety of CCACC programs are designed to enlighten members and celebrate cultural diversity in our community.  The main programs and services are divided as follows:    

Health and Human Services Division provides two distinct services: Health Services and Human Services. There are two major health services programs.  The first program is Pan Asian Volunteer Health Clinic (PAVHC) which provides primary care services to low-income, no health insurance Montgomery County residents.  The second program is Health Service Outreach services.  CCACC has sponsored numerous health activities to enhance county residents’ ability to understand and seek out the needed health care services.

The Human Services embodies two major programs. The first is the Senior Nutrition program which provide Montgomery County senior residents nutrition meals at four locations:  Germantown Community Center, Rockville Senior Center, Lincoln Park Community Center, and at our CCACC headquarters. Together with other divisions and programs, CCACC conducts various activities at these centers to enhance seniors’ health and social welfare.

Education Division is dedicated to provide educational programs and services to enhance mutual understanding of languages and cultures. Currently, CCACC has three major education programs.  The first one is Cultural Language Arts Programs and Services (CLAPS) for non-Chinese speaking families. The second program is Adult English as Second Language program (ESOL). The third program is Business English Training Workshop.

Culture and Recreation Division is to plan and coordinate activities associated with the development of arts and culture program, sports and fitness program, youth program, and other CCACC affiliated organizations, such as Gu Zheng, painting & calligraphy, operas, Tai-Chi, folk dance, line dance, photography, gardening, arts and crafts, etc.

CCACC Adult Day Healthcare Center (ADHC) is the licensed adult day health-care facility with the most capacity in Maryland.  It is also Maryland's first and only such facility founded and administered by the Chinese Americans in Maryland. Its mission is to enhance the quality and dignity of life for individuals who have disabilities or illnesses through a safe, therapeutic, and culturally relevant environment. It maximizes one’s independence and enables the individual to remain in his/her home environment.

   CCACC’s new headquarters is located at 9366 Gaither Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20877.  It is now officially open for business.  CCACC offers a variety of membership packages. The Center welcomes all residents, and membership is open to the community at large.  Paid CCACC members receive benefits including discounts on fees for programs and events, participation priority in activities, senior discounts at some local participating restaurants and more.  

     Donations of either small or large amounts are all welcome and will strengthen the CCACC mission and ensure that it will continue to remain a vital part of our community.  The Center participates in Combined Federal Campaign and United Way.
