Farmer's Market Picks for This Week

This week, I will be shopping at two of my favorite farmer's markets.  Of course, we're lucky to have good selection of farmer's markets in this town.  All things being equal, I prefer shopping at the farmer's markets, since the farmer gets more money for his goods, where you cut out the middleman.  Likewise, you can talk directly with the farmer, and share in his passion for his goods.

My first favorite is the Georgetown Farmer's Market in Rose Park.  This is a great market, but the bummer is they're only open on Wednesdays.  Yet, if you can make the weekday, the free range chicken can make the trip worth it.

My second favorite is the Glover Park-Burleith Farmers' Market every Saturday, 9am-1pm.  This market supports 92 school gardens and 46 farmers.  This market is based upon an active sense of community involvement and childhood education, so supporting it plays straight to the heart.

Shopping for goods at a farmer's market just feels more authentic, being more connected to your community, of spending your dollar where it will do the most good.
