Mark Shriver to receive a Christopher Award for "A Good Man: Remembering My Father, Sargent Shriver" in NYC, May 23rd. Winners awaken hope and acknowledge sacrifice in the service of a greater good.

Bethesda-based author Mark K. Shriver won a 2013 Christopher Award for “A Good Man: Remembering My Father, Sargent Shriver” [Henry Holt and Company]. The awards—in their 64th year--will be given at a gala in New York City on May 23rd.

This book, http://us.macmillan.com/book.aspx?isbn=9781250031440, is one of 11 for adults and young people that The Christophers will honor. The books join eight feature films and TV/Cable programs also slated to win a Christopher Award this year.

Mark Shriver’s memoir about his late father, the Peace Corps founder and Special Olympics president, lovingly explores the roots of his parent’s commitment to public service, his love for God, and his devotion to his wife of 56 years, Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
