Unique Children's Event on Memorial Day Weekend not to be Missed!

The contestants of Little Malaika International Boys & Girls Pageant just concluded their courses on public speaking and leadership, a prelude to the final competition.

Phelps Stokes, the nation's oldest philanthropic organization (101 years old) has partnered with UNESCO Club Racines Heritage Foundation to identify and develop the next generation of global leaders. As part of the partnership, Pape Samb, President & CEO of Phelps Stokes and, certified trainer and facilitator, has created a leadership development curriculum for the contestants of Little Malaika to equip them with basic leadership skills needed to help them navigate through today's global challenges. Samb will also serve as a Special Judge for the pageant.

Warren Brown, host of the Food Network show Sugar Rush and owner of the famous bakery CakeLove, has focused on teaching the contestants some basic skills in public speaking. Students learned about techniques of effective speech delivery, confidence, assertiveness and how to overcome the fear of public speaking while speaking or performing in front of a crowd.  CakeLove is a sponsor of Little Malaika International.

The Leadership and Multicultural Pageant will be attended by Guest of Honor Her Excellency Jacinth Henry-Martin, Ambassador of St Kitts and Nevis, who will also serve as a VIP judge.

Little Malaika International is an event for boys & girls that aims to empower kids to become leaders; encourages them to make a difference in their communities, as well as promote inter-cultural dialogue among diverse communities.

The second edition will take place on Saturday, May 25th at 2pm at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center, 7100 Connecticut Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20815.

Children will take part in a fun competition to become Princess Malaika and Prince Malaika. A much-anticipated event not to be missed!
