Public to Bid Farewell to Schaefer Next Week

William Donald Schaefer will lie in repose in the State House in Annapolis on Monday and in the Baltimore City Hall rotunda on Monday evening and Tuesday. His funeral is scheduled for next Wednesday.

The body of former Gov. William Donald Schaefer, who died Monday at the age of 89, will take a tour of Baltimore landmarks next week before he is laid to rest.

Schaefer, who helped revitalize the city, will visit Harborplace, the National Aquarium and the stadiums, said Michael Golden, who served as Schaefer's press secretary in Annapolis.

Schaefer will lie in repose from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, in the State House rotunda. The casket will then be transported to Baltimore, passing several of the city's landmarks associated with his four terms as mayor. A complete list of landmarks will be released later today, Golden said.
