Find your Flair During Boutique Week

Fun fall fashion events ongoing at Bethesda Row through Oct. 9.

There's something so charming about Bethesda Row. Perhaps it's the crisp fall breeze wafting by with tantalizing scents from Redwood and Assaggi, or the picturesque white lights dancing against the sky. But it's most definitely the eclectic mix of boutiques that truly bring fun and flair to the heart of Bethesda.

To kick off the fall fashion season right, local merchants on Bethesda Row are celebrating Boutique Week until Oct. 9, with events and promotions for fashionistas, foodies, and fitness buffs alike. Boutique Week is jam-packed with special events including trunk shows, gifts offered with purchases, free samples, local celebrity appearances, and advice from style experts.

The excitement of a new season always brings with it a shift in wardrobe as ladies put away their sundresses and wedges in exchange for stiletto boots and fur vests. Bethesda has become a fashion destination as savvy locals realize they can get all their favorite looks here without the hassle of heading into Washington or the braving the horrendous Tyson's Corner traffic. "All my favorite shops are here, and I can avoid rush hour after work," said Jason Hoskinson, a manager at Gucci in Chevy Chase, picking up a Frederic Fekkai Shea Butter Conditioner from Blue Mercury.

At J. MacLaughlin Tuesday evening, stylish women in camel colored wraps and luxurious boots adorned themselves with jewelry featured at a Kenneth Jay Lane trunk show.

"People are looking for that fun, special piece for fall," said Kate Chambers of J. MacLaughlin. "Any kind of accessory that will spice up wardrobe basics like faux fur or animal print. Something to put a smile on their face. " At the trunk show, lively shoppers chatted and tried on vividly colored accessories while Andrea Rogers of popular lifestyle site AskMissA demonstrated some of her favorite pieces for fall.

Still to come this week: a book signing with bestselling husband and wife author team Chef Geoff Tracy and his wife Norah O'Donnell,  authors of natural baby food cookbook BabyLove. A Mija Jewelry trunk show is ongoing Thursday at LouLou, a "Function as Fashion" show is set for Friday at Lululemon Athletica, and a Soft Joie trunk show featuring sexy knits is planned for Luna Saturday.

Redwood is the perfect place to rest tired toes after an all-day shopping excursion. Hungry shoppers can enjoy happy hour cocktails and savory snacks like mini-sliders and flatbread with pesto dipping sauce. Yum! The perfect way to end the day is a stop off at and with a qualifying purchase from participating boutiques shoppers get a sweet treat! Sweet deals indeed.
