This Weekend: Art, Music, Theater, and a Crab Feast

Bethesda Patch brings you the best of the weekend.

It's the second Friday of the month, so you know what that means – downtown Bethesda art galleries will be opening their doors for the this evening from 6-9p.m. Check out work from local, national and international artists that includes painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media.

Volunteer for our local watersheds Saturday by joining the Little Falls Watershed Alliance for a The group will meet at 10a.m. at Massachusetts Avenue and Little Falls Parkway in Bethesda.

Saturday evening, check out a performance by Carlos Perez, a classical guitarist hailing from Chile at the The concert is $25 for adults, $12.50 for adults age 18-22, and free for children under 18.  The concert kicks off 8p.m.

On Sunday, help support the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad by stopping by its from 1-5p.m.. The feast is open to all and will feature all-you-can-eat steamed crabs, fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, applesauce, rolls, beer and soda. Tickets are $40 per person.

At 5p.m., stop by the for a performance by the Inscape Chamber Orchestra. The performance will mark the 100th birthday of American composer Samuel Barber, and the world premiere of a musical selection by local composer Justin Boyer.

At 7p.m., acclaimed actor Ellen McLaughlin will perform her original monologue, Penelope, at the McLaughlin is best known for her role in Tony Kushner's Broadway hit "Angels in America." Penelope tells the story of a woman whose husband, a war veteran, returns after a 20-year absence suffering from brain damage.
