Bethesda Armed Robberies Detailed in Recent Crime Report

Armed robberies reported July 5 on the Georgetown Branch Trail and Old Georgetown Road.

Montgomery County Police reported two armed robberies in Bethesda in the most recent crime report, which details crimes in the county from July 4 to July 12.

Both of the robberies happened on July 5, according to police.

Around 6:30p.m. in the 7600 block of Old Georgetown Road, police say a suspect showed a weapon and stole property from a victim. The robbery happened on the street, according to a police spokesman.

A 16-year-old boy from Silver Spring was arrested.

Around 9p.m., there was another armed robbery along the Georgetown Branch Trail in the 4600 block of Elm Street. The suspects approached the victims, showed a weapon, and tried unsuccessfully to steal property, according to police.

A 13-year-old Silver Spring boy, a 16-year-old Silver Spring boy, and a 15-year-old Bethesda boy were arrested.

Following is a summary of other recent crimes in Bethesda between July 5 and July 12.

July 5

  • A home was burglarized in the 4700 block of Jones Bridge Road at 7:41p.m. There was forced entry and property was stolen.

July 6

  • There was a commercial burglary at the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities at 6707 Democracy Boulevard in the overnight hours between Wednesday, July 6 and Thursday, July 7. Nothing was stolen.
  • A home was burglarized in the 4600 block of Glenbrook Parkway sometimes between 10a.m. and 10p.m. There was forced entry and property was stolen.

July 7

  • A residential larceny happened in the 4600 block of Harrison Street around 7:15 a.m.  Property was stolen from outside a home.

Various dates, times

  • Multiple thefts from vehicles happened in Bethesda during the week. Items including an iPod, credit cards, sunglasses, electronic equipment and cash were stolen from unlocked cars. The thefts happened in the 6700 block of Landon Lane, the 9300 block of Singleton Drive, the 9600 block of Fernwood Road and the 8900 block of Seneca Lane.
