Bethesda-Chevy Chase Crime: Burglary at Baja Fresh

Crime reports for May 20-28: Burglaries, thefts from vehicles and a stolen vehicle.

The following information was provided by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes for May 20-28. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction:

  • A commercial burglary occurred at Baja Fresh (4930 Elm St., Bethesda) on Monday, May 27, at about 9 a.m. No further details were available as of the end of last week.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, May 28, in the 1700 block of East-West Highway, Bethesda, between midnight and 7:30 a.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A vehicle was stolen from the 4900 block of Battery Lane, Bethesda, on Thursday, May 23, between 4 and 4:15 p.m.
  • Four thefts from vehicles occurred over several nights in residential Bethesda neighborhoods bordering Washington, DC. The incidents involved five vehicles—though police have counted them as four thefts—on Chevy Chase Boulevard, Bradley Boulevard, Bayard Boulevard and Worthington Drive. One vehicle was forced open. The others had been left unlocked. The vehicles were searched, and loose valuables (cash, GPS units, glasses, etc.) were taken.
  • Four thefts from vehicles occurred in Bethesda overnight Wednesday, May 22 to Thursday, May 23. The incidents occurred in residential neighborhoods in Oakmont. Two took place on Southwick Street, one on Sonoma Road, and one on Singleton Drive. Three vehicles were entered by force. One had been left unlocked. Vehicles were searched and loose valuables (cash, GPS units, glasses, etc.) were taken.
