Bethesda, Chevy Chase Crime: Attempted Burglary at Shaw's Jewelers, More

Crimes occurring in Bethesda and Chevy Chase between July 8 and 16.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between July 8 and 16. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 5500 block of Friendship Boulevard in Chevy Chase during the night between Monday and Tuesday, July 8 and 9. There was an unknown entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 4800 and 4900 blocks of Essex Avenue in Chevy Chase. One occurred during the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 10, and the other during the night between July 10 and 11. There were no signs of forced entry, and loose items inside the vehicles were taken.
  • An attempted commercial burglary occurred at Shaw’s Jewelers, at the Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, July 10 and 11. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken. 
  • A theft occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 11, during the victim’s bus ride from the Bethesda Metrorail station to Montgomery Mall. No further details were available as of the publication of the crime summary on Thursday, July 25.
  • Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 6300 block of Bells Mill Road in Bethesda during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, July 10 and 11. There was no forced entry, and loose items were taken.
