Bethesda, Chevy Chase Crime: Commercial, Residential Burglaries; Thefts from Vehicles

The following crimes were included in the county police's crime summary for April 27 to May 7.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between April 27 and May 7. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction. 

  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 4800 block of Rugby Road during the night between Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 4500 block of Montgomery Avenue on Thursday, May 2, between 6 and 7:15 p.m. There was an unknown entry, and property was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred at Tip to Toes—7711 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda—during the night between Sunday, May 5, and Monday, May 6. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4600 block of Windsor Lane, Bethesda, on Tuesday, April 30, at about 4:30 a.m. There was an unforced entry, and nothing was taken. A 31-year-old man from Washington, DC, was arrested in conjunction with the burglary, according to county police.
  • Two thefts from vehicles occurred during the evening hours on different days in commercial lots and garages (one on St. Elmo Avenue and one on Arlington Road) in Bethesda. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred at The Gap—at 5430 Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase—on Tuesday, April 30, at about 11 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon, then fled. Read more about the incident on Patch.
  • Two residential burglaries occurred on Wednesday, May 1, in the 5200 block of Albemarle Street, Bethesda. One occurred between midnight and 6 a.m., and the other occurred between 2 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. In both instances, there was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, April 30, in the 6000 block of Landon Lane between 10:45 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, April 30, in the 6200 block of Perthshire Court between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. There was an unforced entry, and property was taken. 
  • Two commercial burglaries occurred at Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda) sometime between Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 10000 block of Sinnott Court, Bethesda, on Tuesday, April 30. There was an unknown entry, and it is unknown what was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 6100 block of Lux Lane, North Bethesda, on Wednesday, May 1, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
