Bethesda, Chevy Chase Crime: Indecent Exposure at Library, Burglary at Salon

Several residential burglaries, commercial burglaries and thefts from vehicles also were included in the county police's most recent crime summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Aug. 12 and 20. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Indecent exposure:

  • An indecent exposure occurred at the Montgomery County Library at 4201 Knowles Ave., Bethesda, on Monday, Aug. 19, at about 12:30 p.m. 
Bank robbery:
  • A bank robbery occurred at PNC Bank, at 10211 Old Georgetown Rd., Bethesda, on Friday, Aug. 16, at about 12:30 p.m. 
Commercial burglaries:
  • A commercial burglary occurred at Chaos Salon (4939 Cordell Ave., Bethesda) on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 12:07 a.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 7900 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 14 and 15. The means of entry is unknown, and property was taken.
Residential burglaries:
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 3800 block of Bradley Lane in Bethesda on Friday, Aug. 16, at about 7:30 a.m. The means of entry is unknown, and it is unknown what was taken. A 40-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested in connection with the burglary.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8000 block of Ellingson Drive in Chevy Chase during the night between Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 12 and 13. Property was taken from an open garage.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4600 block of Coachway Drive in North Bethesda between 1 and 3 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16. There was no forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 5400 block of Westbard Avenue in Bethesda on Monday, Aug. 12, between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. There was a forced entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 6300 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Bethesda between Aug. 17 and 19. There was no forced entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 11900 block of Castlegate Court in North Bethesda on Friday, Aug. 16, between 1 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Property was taken from an open garage.
Thefts from vehicles:
  • On Mon., Aug. 12, between 2 and 3:30 p.m., a laptop was taken from a vehicle at Willard and North Park avenues, Chevy Chase. 
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 14, between 7 and 9:30 p.m., a briefcase, iPad and credit cards were taken from a vehicle at 5311 Friendship Blvd., Chevy Chase. 
  • On Friday, Aug. 16, between 7:30 and 7:40 p.m., a bag with a laptop and books was taken from a vehicle at 5311 Friendship Blvd., Chevy Chase.
  • On Monday, Aug. 19, between 7 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., a backpack and charger were taken from a vehicle at 4710 Willard Ave.
