Bethesda, Chevy Chase Crime: Sex Assault at Deli, Burglaries and More

Bethesda and Chevy Chase incidents included in the county police summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summaries of major crimes occurring in the county between July 29 and Aug. 13. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

  • A vehicle theft occurred overnight between Monday, July 29, and Tuesday, July 30, in the 2400 block of Colston Drive in Chevy Chase. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4600 block of West Virginia Avenue in Bethesda on Tuesday, July 30, between 2 and 4 p.m. There was no forced entry, but property was taken. 
  • Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 4500 block of Chestnut Street in Bethesda between Wednesday, July 31, and Friday, Aug. 2. The vehicles were unlocked, and electronics were taken from them.
  • Two commercial burglaries occurred in the 5500 block of Security Lane in North Bethesda between Friday, Aug. 2, and Monday, Aug. 5. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A burglary occurred at Westbrook Elementary School, 5110 Allen Terrace, in Bethesda between Wednesday, July 31, and Thursday, Aug. 1. There was an unknown entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4900 block of Allen Road in Bethesda on Wednesday, July 31, between 12:30 and 2 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 5200 block of Worthington Drive in Bethesda overnight between Tuesday, Aug. 6, and Wednesday, Aug. 7. Property was taken from an open garage. 
  • Three thefts from vehicles occurred in the Friendship Heights area. All of the vehicles were forced open. Purses and electronics (laptops and GPS units) were the primary items targeted.
  • A vehicle theft occurred in the Glen Echo area. The vehicle was forced open.
  • A commercial burglary occurred at the Bethesda County Club, 7601 Bradley Blvd., in Bethesda during the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 1. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Aug. 2, in the 9300 block of Burning Tree Road in Bethesda between 8:15 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Aug. 2, in the 5600 block of Johnson Avenue in Bethesda between 8:30 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. There was no forced entry, but property was taken.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 4900 block of Battery Lane in Bethesda on Monday, Aug. 5, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken. 
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred overnight between Wednesday, and Thursday, Aug. 7 and 8, in the 100 block of Quincy Street in Chevy Chase. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken. 
  • A sex assault occurred on Friday, Aug. 9, at 12:10 a.m. at Karin’s Deli, located at 1 Wisconsin Circle in Bethesda. The suspect inappropriately touched the victim. 
  • An attempted commercial burglary occurred overnight between Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9 and 10, at Tia Queta, 4839 Del Ray Ave., Bethesda. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken. 
  • A theft from a vehicle occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 3:13 a.m. in the 8200 block of Kentbury Drive in Bethesda. Jewelry and cash were taken. An 18-year-old man from Rockville and a 22-year-old man from Rockville were arrested in connection with the theft.
  • A commercial burglary occurred between Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 7 and 8, at Carr Properties located at 5454 Wisconsin Ave. in Chevy Chase. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred from a shed in the 5200 block of Worthington Drive in Bethesda overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 6 and 7. Property was taken.
  • Three thefts from vehicles occurred in the area of Willard Avenue and North Park Avenue between Tuesday, Aug. 6, and Monday, Aug. 12. The entries were forced in all three incidents, and laptops, money, phones and identification documents were taken. 
  • Graffiti was discovered on Wednesday, Aug. 7, on a sign at the intersection of Montgomery Avenue and Keokuk Street in Bethesda. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 6 and 7, at the American Plant Co., 7405 River Rd. in Bethesda. There was a forced entry, and property was damaged. 
  • An attempted residential burglary took place on Monday, Aug. 5, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Battery Lane in Bethesda. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 6:46 a.m. in the 5600 block of Folkstone Road in Bethesda. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 9:46 p.m. in the 9900 block of Mayfair Drive in Bethesda. 
  • A theft occurred at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 3:45 p.m. A wallet was taken from a purse.
