Bethesda, Chevy Chase Crime: Thefts from Vehicles, Strong-Arm Robbery

An attempted residential burglary also occurred.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between July 15 and 22. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

  • A theft—with no forced entry—from a vehicle occurred in the 4400 block of West Virginia Avenue, Bethesda, on Saturday, July 27, at about 2:15 a.m. A GPS unit was taken.
  • Five thefts—all involving forced entries—from vehicles also occurred. Three incidents occurred during the evening hours (between 6 and 8 p.m.) in the commercial area of Friendship Heights; one occurred during the early morning hours of Monday, July 29, in a residential neighborhood along the border with Washington, DC; and the final incident occurred between 5 and 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29, near a walking path.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 5500 block of Pembroke Terrace, Bethesda, sometime on Friday, July 26. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken.
  • An attempted strong-armed robbery occurred near the AC Moore store at 5700 Bou Ave., North Bethesda, on Friday, July 26, at 6:24 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and unsuccessfully attempted to obtain property.
