Bethesda Man Threatened Two Victims With Knife, Police Say

A man has been charged in an attempted assault outside Rock Bottom Brewery Oct. 12.

A Bethesda man has been charged with assault for allegedly threatening two people with a knife outside Rock Bottom Brewery in Bethesda.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, in the 7900 block of Norfolk Avenue, near Rock Bottom, according to police. The man may have been intoxicated, according to Montgomery County police spokeswoman Angela Cruz.

Police say the suspect, Michael Whyte, 23, of the 9200 block of Adelaide Court in Bethesda, threatened two victims with a knife and attempted to assault them following a verbal dispute.

One of the victims was an adult male, but more information wasn’t immediately available about the second victim, Cruz said.

Whyte was arrested and faces multiple charges, including two counts of first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to online court records.

Whyte's attorney, Rebecca Nitkin, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
