Bethesda, Chevy Chase Crime: Sex Assault at Marriott, Burglaries in Bethesda

Recent crimes in Bethesda and Chevy Chase.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between July 1 and 9. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

  • A sexual assault occurred at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel (5520 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda) on Saturday, July 6, between 4:30 and 9:15 a.m. The suspect is known to the victim. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 4900 block of St. Elmo Avenue, Bethesda, between Wednesday and Thursday, July 3 and 4. There was a forced entry, and it is unknown what was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4500 block of Avondale Street, Bethesda, on Monday, July 1, at about 7:30 a.m. There was no forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 9900 block of Julliard Drive, Bethesda, on Wednesday, July 3, at about 11:30 p.m. There was a forced entry, and nothing was taken. An 18-year-old man from Bethesda was arrested in connection with the incident, according to the crime summary.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 5300 block of Westpath Way, Bethesda, around 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 6. There was no forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the unit block of Burning Tree Court in Bethesda during the night between Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A theft from a vehicle occurred in the 12500 block of Village Square Terrace in North Bethesda between 7 a.m. on Monday, July 8, and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9. There was a forced entry, and equipment and tools were taken.
