Passenger Severely Injured After Car Hits Tree on Conn. Ave

A car hit a tree in the median strip of Connecticut Avenue near Saul Road on Tuesday afternoon. The driver received only minor injuries.

One person is being treated for life-threatening injuries, after the car they were traveling in struck a tree on Connecticut around 4:30 p.m. on May 7, according to a county police statement.

The vehicle—driven by Dawa Tamang, 39, of Rockville—was traveling south on Connecticut Avenue in Kensington when it left the road near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Saul Road, hit the road's center median strip and then hit a tree in that median, police said.

Tamang received minor injuries from the incident, but front seat passenger Lok Katwal—31, of the same address as Tamang—remains in the hospital, police said. Tamang and Katwal were the only people in the car, and no other vehicles were involved, police said.
