DC Man Dies from Injuries in Chevy Chase Crash

Montgomery County Police continue to investigate what caused a car to crash into a tree in Chevy Chase, killing the driver.

A Washington, D.C., man has died from injuries he suffered Friday when his Mini Cooper crashed into a tree in Chevy Chase.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department continue to investigate the collision that occurred at the intersection of Beach Drive and Wyndale Road.

The driver of the Mini Cooper has been identified as Malcolm Lawrence Gardner, 25, of the 4300 block of 14th Street N.W. in Washington.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Gardner’s car was southbound on Beach Drive when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a tree near the westbound shoulder. Gardner was taken to Suburban Hospital, where he died from his injuries Monday.
