Detectives Seek Suspect in String of Business Breakins, $10,000 Reward Offered

Montgomery County Police believe the same suspect is responsible for a series of commercial burglaries and a $10,000 reward is now being offered in the case.

Detectives from three area police departments are seeking a suspect they believe is tied to a string of burglaries at restaurants, a gas station and pharmacy mostly along Frederick Road in Rockville and Gaithersburg.

The Montgomery County Police Department’s Rockville office is investigating the breakins that occurred Dec. 10 and Dec. 11. Detectives said in a news release that they believe the same suspect is responsible for all of the burglaries and a $10,000 reward is now being offered to prosecute the person responsible for the thefts.

Officers responded to a commercial burglar alarm at the BP gas station at 16210 Frederick Road at roughly 11:32 p.m. Dec. 10. Multiple commercial alarms were then received at several businesses along Frederick Road. While responding to these alarms, officers discovered additional burglaries had been committed.

The following burglaries were discovered:

  • Dunkin Donuts located at 16220 Frederick Road, Suite 104
  • Express Pharmacy located at 16220 Frederick Road, Suite 100
  • BP gas station located at 16210 Frederick Road
  • Shell gas station located at 15701 Frederick Road

Five additional burglaries were also discovered that are under investigation by the Gaithersburg Police Department and Rockville City Police Department. These burglaries include:

  • Corner Bakery located at 1 Grand Corner Avenue
  • Lindt Chocolate located at 3 Grand Corner Avenue
  • Taco Bar II located at 10003 Field Road
  • Subway located at 15106B Frederick Road
  • Kwik Stop Beer and Wine located at 15104 Frederick Road

In all of the burglaries, the suspect entered the businesses and stole cash and other merchandise.

On Friday, detectives released a video surveillance photo of the suspect and asked for the public’s assistance in identifying him. The suspect is described as a man of unknown race wearing light blue jeans, a dark blue or black hoodie, tan boots, a dark knit cap, and yellow and black gloves.
