Man Suffers Cardiac Arrest At U.S. Open

Police and Fire/Rescue responded.

Update, 4:09p.m. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia confirmed that a man in his late 20s or early 30s suffered a medical emergency at Congressional this morning, but couldn't confirm it was a cardiac arrest. The man was unconscious and unresponsive when responders arrived, Garcia said. Garcia said he had received unconfirmed information that the man would likely survive.

Update, 12:05p.m.: An adult male went into cardiac arrest Thursday morning on the grounds of as the U.S. Open's championship rounds were getting underway.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to transport the man to the hospital, who had collapsed at the bottom of the tenth hole near the 11th fairway concessions, according to Capt. Oscar Garcia, a Fire and Rescue spokesman.

Fire and Rescue responded around 10:22 Thursday morning, where first responders -- police officers and doctors from George Washington Hospital who are members of the event's medical team -- were conducting CPR, Garcia said.

The man was transported to the hospital. His condition wasn't immediately known.

Original Post: Montgomery County police are reporting via their Twitter page that a fan has collapsed at the U.S. Open near Hole 10.

Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue both responded. Police began CPR and Fire/Rescue transported the person to the hospital, according to the tweet.
