Vehicle Fire Damages Bethesda Home

A blaze that started in a car parked beneath a carport spread into a Bethesda home Thursday evening.

A vehicle fire in a car parked beneath a carport spread into a Bethesda home Thursday evening, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials.

Rescuers responded to the home at 5103 Baltimore Avenue at 6:20 p.m., according to Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Scott Graham. The car fire had extended into the kitchen, the second floor and the attic of the home, Graham said.

Responders extingushed the blaze in about 20 minutes.

Several residents were at home at the time the fire started and made it safely outside. There were no injuries reported, Graham said.

Thursday evening, responders were still at the scene checking for hot spots.

It wasn't yet clear what caused the fire or how much damage the home sustained.
