Firefighters Union: Not Paying Workers Comp Costs County More Money

Montgomery County career firefighters want to launch an investigation into the company that pays workers compensation claims.

Not paying legitimate workers compensation claims ultimately costs Montgomery County more money as career firefighters are forced to retire on the county’s dime. That’s what Jeffrey Buddle, president of International Association of Firefighters Local 1664—the union for career firefighters in Montgomery County—alleges in a July 8 letter to the county’s inspector general.

The union wants the inspector general to launch a probe into the company that handles workers compensation claims and is accusing the company of bungling claims, The Gazette reports.
