Hamilton Residents Shelter in Place Due to Gas Line Break

Novato Fire Protection District reports a gas line break near Bolling Circle and Crissy Place.

A gas leak has caused the evacuation of five homes and blocked off several streets in the Hamilton area of Novato this afternoon, a Novato Fire Protection District battalion chief said.

A backhoe struck the 4-inch gas line around 2:20 p.m. on Bolling Drive, Battalion Chief Bill Tyler said.

Residents of homes in the eighth- to quarter-mile area around the leak have been advised to shelter in place, Tyler said.

Streets that have been blocked off include Crissy Place, Mather Court, Moffett Court, Tinker Way, Randolph Drive, Kelly Court, and parts of Bolling Drive, Tyler said.
PG&E crews are at the scene and the leak in the gas line is expected to be repaired by 7 p.m., Tyler said.

About 12 preschool children in the playground at Hamilton School were told to remain at the school until their parents picke them up, Tyler said.

A tow truck driver complained of light-headedness and was taken by
the Novato Fire Protection District to a hospital, Tyler said.

Residents should still shelter in place due to the high crime rate at Bay Vista. These thugs are fanning out into the neighborhood and shopping centers nearby. Just look at the police blotter. More affordable housing is on the table, so lock up.
