Hyatt Re-Opens Following Monday Fire

Power has been restored at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency.

The Bethesda Hyatt Regency hotel has re-opened following a Monday fire that forced the evacuation of more than 400 and left an electrical contractor critically injured.

Power has been restored and the hotel is once again accepting guests, Maria Bardos McGuire, hotel director of sales and marketing, announced in an email Monday afternoon.

The blaze began sometime before 12:45 a.m. in the basement of the hotel as electrical repair work was underway, McGuire told Patch. An electrical contractor who was critically injured is in recovery.
