Missing Bethesda Man Located

Gregory Gerhart Burkart, 48, was found unharmed Wednesday evening.

Update, Oct. 4, 10 a.m.: Family members have located 48-year-old Gregory Gerhart Burkart safe and unharmed in Montgomery County, police reported Thursday morning.

Burkart was found around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday evening. Police had reported him missing earlier in the day.

Original post, Oct. 3: Montgomery County police are searching for a man whom they say left his Bethesda home early Wednesday without his wallet, identification, cell phone or keys.

Gregory Gerhart Burkart, 48, left his home in the 5900 block of Melvern Drive around 4 a.m. Wednesday, police said. Police and Burkart's family are concerned for his well-being.

Police are describing Burkart as a white male, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and about 140 pounds. He has blue eyes, brown, balding hair, and wears glasses.

Police believe Burkart may be wearing a tan light-weight jacket, a white T-shirt, blue sweatpants, and tan moccasin slippers.  He has a scar on his right wrist and on his navel.
