Update, 9:08 a.m.: The woman who jumped in front of a train at Bethesda this morning suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to assistant chief Scott Graham of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
Rescuers extricated the woman from underneath the train and she is being transported to a hospital.
Graham couldn't confirm the victim's age. Metro Transit Police are conducting an investigation.

Update, 8:37 a.m.: Metro is reporting that the person who was struck by a train at Bethesda was intentionally in the path of the train. Trains are continuing to single-track and commuters should expect major delays.
The woman was struck around 7:49a.m. and was recovered from underneath the train. The woman survived and was transported to a local hospital, Metro officials said.

Trains are sharing the same track between Medical Center and Friendship Heights stations. Delays are expected in both directions on the Red Line.
