Police Blotter: May 15 - May 23

Residential, commercial burglaries detailed in recent crime summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County police department, which recently released a summary of crimes in the county from May 15 through May 23. Following is a summary of recent crimes in Bethesda.

5/17

  • A residential burglary happened in the 5600 block of Greentree Road in the overnight hours between Tuesday, May 17 and Wednesday, May 18. There was unforced entry into the home and cash was stolen.
  • A commercial office burglary happened at 6315 Executive Boulevard sometime between Tuesday, May 17 and Wednesday, May 18. There was forced entry and property was stolen.
  • There were multiple attempted commercial office burglaries in the 10401 Old Georgetown Road during the overnight hours between Tuesday, May 17 and   Wednesday, May 18.  Someone attempted to break into five different offices in the building, but didn’t access the businesses.

  • A woman’s purse was stolen near the 7800 block of Old Georgetown Road around  4:30p.m. A man approached the woman from behind, grabbed her purse and fled. Police are describing the suspect as a Hispanic male, between 25 and 30 years old, five feet, eight inches to six feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds.

  • A residential burglary happened in the 11700 block of Old Georgetown Road around 1p.m. There was forced entry and property was stolen.

  • An attempted residential burglary happened in the 7800 block of Cayuga Avenue sometime between Sunday, May 22 and Monday, May 23. There was attempted forced entry into the home. Nothing was stolen.
  • Graffiti was painted on a fence outside a home in the 9500 block of Page Avenue at 9:15 p.m. 

5/23

  • There was an additional residential burglary happened in the 11700 block of Old Georgetown Road sometime between Thursday, May 19 and Monday, May 23. There was forced entry, and property was stolen.

5/24

  • A commercial burglary happened at the Radio Shack at 8125 Wisconsin Avenue at 1:20 a.m. There was forced entry into the business and property was stolen.
  • A sexual offense happened at the Westfield Montgomery Mall at 7101 Democracy Boulevard around 5:45 p.m.  A woman was in the parking garage when a man driving a gray Toyota SUV pulled up alongside her. He exposed himself and drove off. Police are describing the suspect as a white male, about 18 years old, six feet, two inches tall and 220 pounds. He was driving a large 2000 gray Toyota SUV with Maryland tags.
