Police Blotter: May 23 - May 31

Residential burglaries, commercial burglaries, and thefts from autos were reported.

Montgomery County police recently released a summary of crimes in the county from May 23 to May 31. Following is a summary of recent crimes in Bethesda.

May 23

  • A theft from a construction site happened  in the 11600 block of Landsdown Street in the overnight hours from Monday, May 23 to Tuesday, May 24. Property was stolen.

  • A residential burglary happened in the 8900 block of Saunders Lane sometime between 1:00 p.m. and 1:36 p.m. There was forced entry but nothing was taken.
  • A residential burglary happened in the 4500 block of Cortland Road between 1:45 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. There was forced entry but nothing was taken.
  • A residential burglary happened in the 5900 block of Searl Terrace in the overnight hours from Friday, May 27 to Saturday, May 28. There was forced entry and property was taken.

There were seven thefts from unlocked vehicles in Bethesda. Following are descriptions of the thefts:

  • Items were stolen from a car in the 5900 block of Beech Avenue on May 25 at 3:30 p.m.  Police are describing the two suspects as a Hispanic male, between 16 and 17 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 220 pounds, and a white male, between 16 and 17 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 170 pounds.
  • Three thefts happened In the 8300 and 8400 blocks of Westmont Terrace in the overnight hours from Wednesday, May 25 into Thursday, May 26. GPS units and iPods were stolen.
  • GPS units were taken from two vehicles on Irvington Avenue and Glenwood Road in the overnight hours from Wednesday, May 25 into Thursday, May 26.
  • The hood ornament was pried off a Mercedes in the 6600 block of Wilson Lane in the overnight hours between Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29.

May 29

  • A residential burglary happened in the 4800 block of Cloister Drive around 10:30 a.m. There was unforced entry into the home and nothing was stolen.

May 30

  • A commercial burglary happened at Mixt Greens at 10217 Old Georgetown Road in the overnight hours from Monday, May 30 to Tuesday, May 31. There was forced entry and cash was stolen.
