Police Detain Suspect After Gaithersburg Stabbing

A Gaithersburg man is in grave condition after being stabbed. Police have a suspect in custody.

A suspect has been questioned by Montgomery County Police in a stabbing early Friday morning in Gaithersburg.

Authorities were called to the 900 block of Curry Ford Lane about 2:30 a.m. July 4 for a reported stabbing. First responders found a 22-year-old Gaithersburg man in the parking lot at hat address suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a local trauma center, where he remains in grave condition.

Police say the suspect, a 24-year-old Gaithersburg man, fled from the scene. Detectives learned his identity, found the man and took him into custody.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and suspect knew each other and had agreed to meet outside at the Curry Ford Lane address. This meeting escalated and the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife, police sai.

The identities of the victim and suspect will be released once a suspect is formally charged, police said.
