Police Investigate Rockville Pike Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Incident

A pedestrian was left unconscious by a hit-and-run driver on Rockville Pike at Cedar Lane last Friday night.

A pedestrian was struck in a hit-and-run incident on Rockville Pike at Cedar Lane on Friday, April 19, at about 9:30 p.m., according to a Montgomery County Police Department news statement.

The pedestrian, Michelle Eyre De Sam, 35, of Bethesda, was left unconscious by the collision. Another driver on Rockville Pike found her in the roadway, and police officers determined that a vehicle had struck her and left the scene, the statement reported.

"De Sam was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries," and she is recovering in the hospital, the statement added.

Police have not yet identified the driver responsible for the collision, and it is unknown if the collision was witnessed.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that De Sam was crossing Rockville Pike (Route 355) from east to west and it is believed that she was in the crosswalk" of the northbound lanes of Route 355, according to police. It was raining at the time of the collision, police added.
