Report: Suspect in Marcum Homicide 'Hiding In Plain Sight' in Mexico

WTOP is reporting Jorge Rueda Landeros is working as a yoga instructor in Juarez.

Citing unnamed Montgomery County law enforcement sources, WTOP is reporting that the in the Sue Marcum homicide case is "hiding in plain sight" in Mexico.

Jorge Rueda Landeros, 41, a resident of Juarez, Mexico, is charged in an international warrant in the murder of American University professor Sue Marcum, who was found dead in her Bethesda home Oct. 25.

Police initially characterized the murder as a robbery gone wrong, but later named Landeros as the primary suspect. People close to Marcum said the , and he tutored her privately in yoga and Spanish, though it was not believed to be a romantic relationship.

WTOP reported that Mexican authorities haven't yet apprehended Landeros, and quoted the law enforcement officer as saying Landeros "hasn't gone underground. He's working as a yoga instructor in a coffee shop" in Juarez.

WTOP also reported that working with police in El Paso, Texas, Montgomery County police obtained a voluntary DNA sample from Landeros on his last visit to the U.S. about two months ago. The warrant wasn't issued until after the DNA sample was processed, according to WTOP.
