Report: Walter Reed Bethesda Employee Charged in Husband's Death

Police allege Diana Lalchan, 27, shot her husband in the head in their Southwest Washington, DC, home.

A pharmacist at Bethesda's Walter Reed National Military Medical Center has been charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of her husband in the couple's Southwest Washington, DC home, The Washington Post reports.

Police allege Diana Lalchan, 27, shot her husband Chris Lalchan in the back of the head in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 28, with a .40 caliber pistol, according to the report.

Lalchan's sister, Sophie Chang, told The Washington Post that the couple planned to split up, but Diana Lalchan wasn't ready for her husband to list his status as "separated" on Facebook.

Police said Lalchan admitted to shooting her husband after the couple argued and claimed she was afraid she would be attacked, The Post reported. Officers said Lalchan called 911 to report the shooting.

Sandy Dean, a spokeswoman for Walter Reed Bethesda, confirmed Lalchan is an employee at the Bethesda campus but couldn't comment further.

"We're aware of the charges. She is an employee here at Walter Reed Bethesda," Dean told Patch. "We can't comment further because it's an ongoing investigation."

Lalchan is being held in a DC jail until a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
