Smoking Insulator Reported Near Bethesda Metro Station

Trains single-tracking between Friendship Heights and Medical Center.

Update, 4:55p.m.:  WMATA reports via Twitter that the problem at Bethesda has been resolved, but delays are continuing.

Original Post: A smoking insulator in a Metro tunnel near the Bethesda station prompted trains to single-track between Friendship Heights and Medical Center Thursday afternoon.

The incident was first reported around 3:18.

Around 4p.m., Montgomery County Fire and Rescue were still on the scene. There weren't heavy smoke conditions and no one was injured, according to Fire and Rescue spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia.
