Synagogue Vandalized
On eve of Passover, police investigate vandalism at the Beth Sholom Congregation.
Police are investigating an act of vandalism at the Beth Sholom Congregation.
Montgomery County police detectives responded early Monday to the synagogue in the 11-thousand-8-hundred block of Seven Locks Road, and found that at least eight windows had been shattered, including a decorative stained-glass window overlooking the parking lot. Police believe a bb-gun was used to commit the crime. No injuries were reported.
Congregation members arrived at the synagogue early this morning to participate in Passover ceremonies when they were told by security guards that the temple had been vandalized overnight. Many within the congregation stayed and participated in ceremonies in the parking lot.

It's unclear whether the incident was a random act of violence or something more. Police say shots were also fired at a nearby jewelry store at the Fortune Terrace Shopping Center. Detectives are working to determine if the incidents are related. Other churches in the area were not targeted.
