Trial Underway For Man Accused In Bethesda Home Invasion

Prosecutors say Kevin Darnell Ray, 34, tied up a maid, teen and homeowner in Bethesda last year a day after locking a Wheaton woman and her baby in a closet.

A man police say tied up a Bethesda homeowner, her maid and a teenage son during a January, 2012 home invasion robbery is on trial in Montgomery County and could face more than 400 years in prison, The Gazette reports.

Prosecutors say Kevin Darnell Ray, 34, of Fort Washington, sexually assaulted the maid during the robbery, which they say came a day after he threatened a Wheaton woman in her garage and locked her in a closet with her baby.

Ray allegedly told Montgomery County officials he began the crime spree after committing a series of street robberies in Washington, DC, with another man, targeting drug dealers, Patch reported. After Ray’s partner was shot and killed, he claimed he began the crime spree because he was "on his own," prosecutors said in court last year.
